Reset Your Microsoft 365 Password
If you've forgotten your Microsoft 365 (M365) password or your account is locked, you can reset it yourself quickly — no need to call the IT helpdesk!
Before You Start
Make sure you have previously set up your self-service password reset (SSPR) options (such as a mobile phone number or alternate email). If you haven't, please contact the IT helpdesk to get set up.
Steps to Reset Your Password

Go to the Microsoft sign-in page Open your web browser and visit https://login.microsoftonline.com.

Click "Can't access your account?" On the sign-in page, click the link that says "Can't access your account?" below the password field.

Select "Work or school account" Choose the Work or school account option.

Enter your email address Type in your work email address (e.g.
yourname@company.com) and complete the on-screen security check (CAPTCHA). -
Verify your identity Choose your preferred verification method — this could be:
- A text message (SMS) to your mobile phone
- A call to your phone
- An email to your alternate email address

Enter the verification code Enter the code you received and click Next.

Create a new password Enter a new password and confirm it. Make sure it meets the following requirements:
- At least 8 characters long
- Includes uppercase and lowercase letters
- Includes at least one number and one special character (e.g.
!,@,#)

Sign in with your new password Once your password is reset, you can sign in to M365 as normal.
